We moved in one week ago. Well, almost, I suppose.
It was 11:30 p.m. when Chad rolled in with the final load.
The next morning I headed out to photograph a wedding. Chad helped.
Chad’s parents were an incredible help.
Our new neighbor had a sign on our door. . . “Welcome Home”.
It made me cry. For many reasons.
We are drowning in boxes. We are steeped in adjustment. I am lost in editing.
Yet, I come here because I miss this space. I love this space in a way that words can’t explain. I come here because, here, I’m reminded of who I am. Here I remember what is important. I pause between finishing editing one session and moving to another because I need to. I need a reminder.
Breathe, Summer. Breathe.
There will be more to come. Much more. I’m making a commitment to myself–to take it in again. Take it all in.
For a year we’ve been in flux. Waiting, wondering, planning, preparing.
Now, we’re settling in.
This week, for the very first time, I stood and watched as Charlie and Chanelle got on the bus for the very first time.
I cried. . . happy tears.
It’s all worth it.
We’re home.
More later, but for your weekend. . . Story People. . .
put them since she lives in a small town & everybody’s always watching.”
I'm so happy you got to be the face they see before they head off to school and the first face they see when they arrive home. How wonderful for all of you! (Meadow looks like she would like to ride the bus too!)
Welcome home!! That is so exciting to be settled:-)
welcome home, summer. what a wonderful gift to get to see your kids off in the morning and to be there to welcome them home in the afternoon (and that top shot of meadow is stunning! that light . . . )!
I have anxiously been awaiting this post! So glad you are finally in! Can't wait for you to start capturing it all in your new place with your beautiful photography.
So glad you are settled after a year of waiting Summer – it looks like you have a beautiful place to settle in. I hope you enjoy your new home.
