I glanced at the calender today and was shocked when I saw that October will greet us at the end of this weekend. What?! Where did September go? I think I need a calender that will remind me to look at the calender. Somehow, I think I missed September.
I love October. In my mind, October is when Fall makes her Grand Entrance. She begins slow and steady in September. A red leaf here or an orange one over there. But in October, Autumn bursts forth with all her vibrant colors, crisp temperatures, pumpkins, hay rides and harvest festivals. Everywhere I look I’m reminded of changing seasons that I love so much.
Autumn isn’t the only thing we celebrate in October. Later in the month we will celebrate the days Charlie and Chanelle entered our world. At the end of this month I will have a 7-year old and a 5- year old. . . and an almost 1 year old.
That is almost more than I can handle.
In an attempt not to to send me completely over the edge before October gets here, I’m keeping it simple tonight.
Things I’m loving.
1. Morning Light
I really wish I could have each one of you come and sip coffee in my living room on a sunny morning. We would sit on the couch, shoot the breeze, until your words were simply caught in our throat as the sun burst though the front window.
It is absolutely glorious.
2. Corn
In candy form.
Really. . . I’m not loving it. I used to love it. It seems that giving birth to Meadow has also taken away all propensity I had to eat these little gems by the handful. Still, I have to buy them because it’s fall and the season would not be complete without them.
Can I get an Amen?
3. Clap, Clap, Clap
She refuses to wave anymore. Now, she claps.
This is after she finished her 2nd cup of coffee. |
She could totally rock out that part in the Friends theme song. . . you know one? The Rembrandts? The clap-clap-clap part?
Yeah, she could do that.
4. Workbook
Now that Charlie has homework in the evening, I thought it might be a good idea to get Chanelle her own work to complete while we work with Charlie. Turns out, I was wrong.
Turns out she wants to work on her workbook at all times of the day, every day. When she wakes up, before bed, in the middle of the day, any free moment. . . Mama, can I work on my workbook?
It feels like when I was 8 and my sister was 4 and we would play School, except this is real.
Yep, cool.
5. Motherhood
Last week while I was walking with my girls, I was struck with the thought. . . there is nothing I’d rather be doing than what I’m doing right now.
Such a simple thought, right? Simple, yes, but it hit me with such force I felt as though I was being body slammed. In that single moment the gift of being a Mom was so real I had to fight back tears.
I am blessed and I know it.
I am thankful.
6. Ornery
Meadow has an ornery side.
7. Evening Light
Come on over. . . it’s equally as glorious.
I’ll serve candy corn.
8. Siblings
Oh, Charlie and Chanelle. I wish you could see them together. About 46 times daily I hear. . . when is Charlie going to be home?
I hope it stays this way.
9. Photography
I have a dream buried in my heart. There are so many unknowns. The road ahead is long.
For now, I’m enjoying the journey. . .

It’s Friday, Friends. I’m pumped for a weekend full of good things.
Wishing you a great one, as well!
I love this post — you have somehow caputured all the warmth and beauty of the fall season, both outdoors and in what's in our hearts this time of year. And that family photo with the little chalkboard sign is so very lovely.
I'm so glad your life is filled with such light!
Thanks so much Lisa. Your words are always so encouraging. . .
Summer, your children have the CUTEST clothes! I know that to some this may seem a petty thing, but not to me. LOVE the classic, fun sense of style you have. ~ pam
Thank you, Pam! I really enjoy dressing the kids, so I appreciate your appreciation of it.
I just wish I could look half as cute as they do!
🙂
That first picture….oh my goodness. Beautiful! Beautiful photo, beautiful girl 🙂
Ornery….um, Meadow and Henry would cause problems together! He is ornery as well. I sort of love it…most of the time. You know, when he isn't throwing his toys away or breaking stuff.
I can't believe it is October. I am SO excited. I can't wait to share my favorite time of the year with Henry and see how we will experience as a family.
